His first published photo was in the September 1991 issue of Firehouse magazine. He continues to be published in various trade magazines/publications. Recently, one of his images was used by the Bradford Exchange for a collectible plate series honoring firefighters. Steve has also entered his photography in exhibitions and won awards for his work. Currently, Steve is a member of the following professional organizations: NPPA (National Press Photographers Association), IFPA (International Fire Photographers Association) and is also a member of Image Collective a Seattle group of photographers.

In September 2003, Steve was asked to join the Bella Pictures wedding photography team. This now gives Steve the knowledge and flexibility of the latest digital technology in addition to his over 15 years of experience in using film.
